Trike! Primeval Earth Dilophosaurus, the beginner carnivore

Dilophosaurus is the sanity check on the Trike! Primeval Earth carnivore roster. When a new account asks which dinosaur to unlock first, the answer is usually this: cheap enough that a death is a lesson, small enough that Red Wood actually hides it, and present enough in the mid-tier that the matchup table does not immediately say go back to the hadrosaur.

NightBeastDilophosaurus is a look on this body. It is not a second species with different stats. Treat it the same way you treat IcicleTriceratops or InterstellarSpacialParasaurolophus: a skin that changes the silhouette, not the role.

This page stays qualitative. No fake damage numbers. Role letters sit on the carnivore list: S for beginner survival because the size and cost make sense, C for solo PvP against apex adults, A for pack because small hunters stack. Roster context sits on the dinosaur hub.

Unlock and what you are buying

Fossils buy the Dilophosaurus base. NightBeastDilophosaurus is a look that may appear in the shop around events. There is no Prime, Chaos, Eclipse, or Primitive pass skin for this body.

The Chaos Pass does not contain Dilophosaurus. Chaos Pass is ChaosGiganotosaurus, Mutyrant, and Agilipterus.

How the small hunter actually plays

Size is the kit. A small hitbox in cover is harder to spot than a Rex silhouette on a ridge. What you do with that size determines whether the matchup table matters.

Against larger carnivores:

• Do not contest a clearing against Tyrannosaurus. Sprint away. The matchup is not a fight; it is a question of whether you can reach the trees.
• Against Carnotaurus, the speed difference matters. Take fights you can see coming.
• Against Spinosaurus, avoid the coast. The water door does not help a body this size.

Against herbivores:

• Hadrosaurs are the preferred target. Parasaurolophus is slow to turn and lives in the same forests you do.
• Baby herbivores are not a pride issue; they are a Fossil efficiency issue. A kill that costs no health is correct play.
• Triceratops and Pachycephalosaurus are not prey. The horns and headbutts punish the wrong approach.

Growth: babies are tiny and fragile. Grow in Red Wood or Pines. A juvenile Dilophosaurus in the open is dinner.

Pack play

Small hunters stack. Three Dilophosaurus that can coordinate are a problem for almost anything that is not a coordinated apex pack. NightBeastDilophosaurus skins do not change this math; they change the screenshot.

Fossils and when Dilophosaurus is the right spend

Redeem codes first. Buy Dilophosaurus as the first carnivore when you are learning the island. Buy it as a pack body when you already understand how apexes move and want numbers.

Premium 1.2× Fossils and VIP 1.5× Fossils / 1.2× growth speed the grind. They do not make the baby stage safer; only cover and not sprinting in the open do that.

Map notes:

• Aquatic Expansion (June 2026) added water Dilophosaurus should avoid.
• Flying Expansion (July 2026) added sky Dilophosaurus cannot reach. Do not try to fight Quetzalcoatlus.
• Anniversary cakes sit on land. Dilophosaurus is fast to the pile from the forest and fast away if the pile is a trap.

The Asteroth Mission is scheduled for 25 September 2026. Dilophosaurus is a sane choice for players who want a body that can actually navigate the island without the visibility tax of a large carnivore.
